Was my neighbour’s comment when I told him I worked from home.
I had to stifle a laugh because there he was at 6pm on a Tuesday evening, dressed from head to foot in waterproof high viz, about to jump in his van, drive 20 miles and unblock a reservoir pipe. He works for the water board you see.
Erm… sorry but that doesn’t really appeal to me
- neither do the back problems, horrible working conditions or low pay (unless of course you volunteer for all the overtime going)
But I didn’t bother to go in to detail about what I do or to enquire as to who or where he had heard that “It wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be”.
Usually these comments originate
from people who’ve never actually worked for themselves from home or elsewhere.
I just said that well - it’s not for everyone - enjoy your shift…
Sadly the world is full of naysayers and sadly they put lots of people off from starting something that could be life-changing...
Could allow them to stop having to do manual jobs in their fifties for example (like my neighbour) But then someone probably told him that trying something new was “Not all it’s cracked up to be” LOL !
If you want to do something - ignore the naysayers - of course they might be right but then they will
never have the guts to even try.
