We met some amazing people yesterday when we picked up our new kitten - people who, like ourselves have struck out on their own to live the lifestyle they choose. 

When we eventually found their place - in the middle of the Ayrshire countryside we were a little gobsmacked!

Not only do they breed Maine Coon cats (like our new one above) they also breed Adalusian horses, dogs and keep countless personal pets - as well as looking after others that friend’s due to circumstances have had to re-home. 

The place was huge though a little run down and was a little like visiting an indoor zoo - cats and dogs everywhere and horse equipment everywhere. 

Not really the way we would want to live but - each to their own. 

The lady of the house also hires out animals and her training skills to TV and film companies. 

Not surprisingly they run the business largely online and have turned their passion for animals into a thriving business they love that generates multiple income streams. 

Mike ( the husband) was on site to meet us and we spent a hour or so chatting about animals and life in general. He had turned his back on a corporate career and both spent their life savings on the farm.

Mike told us that before the internet became what it is now things had been tough to start with. They’d spent fortunes and tons of time on advertising, word of month, building their reputation. 

So although strictly speaking theirs isn’t purely an internet business, like my partners driving instruction business, most of their income is generated online initially. 

Within the SFM community their are so many people like this - turning their passions into businesses they love. 

There is a lot more these guys could do with internet marketing but as there are only two of them, they can only handle so much work. 

The thing is though that when you learn how to get around on the internet the possibilities really are endless. 

So don’t just think of SFM and DEA as internet business opportunities - of course they offer that possibility - but it’s really all about transferable skills, systems and strategies that can turn the internet to your advantage.
