This morning after coming back from a run to the local post office, I ended up in a bit of fix…

I couldn’t open the car door because I had jammed the  metal part of the seat belt in the car door. Try as I might I couldn’t get that door open - plus of course the seatbelt couldn’t be used. 

This was extra tricky as I have a little two seater soft top - not much room to move so I didn’t have the space to kick the door - I had to make a very undignified exit via the passenger door. 

So I did what I now do for pretty much every problem I have: I Googled it! 

I found lots of posts from people who had solved the same problem. 

On their advice I leant against the outside of the door to release the door catch - “Click” - door opened! 

Now this is small potatoes I know but it’s yet another example of the power of the internet. 

In the past I would have called a garage - probably after getting out the screwdriver, crowbar etc and probably causing a lot of damage to the car in the process - and paid a small fortune to have this fixed. 

But look at the big picture here for a moment: 

Most of us now go to Google or Youtube, or Facebook for information and solutions to our problems. 9.9 times out of 10 we find the answer or the goods, services, advice and products we need. 

That extends to freeing trapped seatbelts, dating, self development, home improvement, insurance, starting an online business, holidays, stopping smoking ….. you name it. 

If YOU can be the person offering the solution to the problem (whatever it is) you are in a very powerful position.  

And do you think that if you are that person, the people you help will come back to you time and time again? Bet your bottom dollar they will.
