These days I regularly clean out my email mailbox and unsubscribe from loads of distracting stuff.
When you get started in the world of internet marketing you tend to be a little like my cat:
His favourite thing in the world (apart from food!) is a shiny ball of tin foil. Give him an expensive ultra realistic mouse toy and he’ll ignore it, but flick a shiny tinfoil ball into a room and he’s after it like .. well .. a scalded cat.
Click here to see him in action!
It’s like the “shiny object syndrome” that afflicts us all until we wise up.
I’m talking about all these emails that offer everything from no effort ways to bring millions of visitors to your website to new tricks to add thousands of new followers to your social media accounts.
Even as I write this an email has popped into my mailbox titled -
“Loophole Turns Facebook into a Virtual ATM…” I rest my case!
(There are no loopholes, magic buttons or “virtual ATM’s)
Over time you learn to filter out the “noise” and distractions so you only spend your valuable time on the ones that offer real value.
Now I only really trust very few of the people I’ve ended up subscribed to. The rest get deleted - permanently when I’m doing a clear out.
I
genuinely aim to offer value to anyone who has taken the time to subscribe to me.
After several years of working online from home (including a lot of wasted time and rookie mistakes - falling for shiny objects) I primarily point people who are serious about building a genuine, sustainable internet business to SFM and DEA.
Because they connect me with the real, proven experts in every field of internet marketing. NOT the shiny object sellers.
So loveable though he is - don’t be like my cat. He eventually realises that the shiny silver ball is just that. That’s why we keep finding them abandoned under the
furniture!
Cheers!
