As some of you may have noticed if you’ve had a look at my website or tried to see some of my videos in the last 24 hrs or so I’ve had something of a setback…
I checked my email yesterday morning and found a note from Youtube telling me they had terminated my main Youtube
channel.
Talk about a shit start to the day!
I had over 170 videos, 200 subscribers and hundreds of thousands of views along with lots of comments, likes and shares.
A lot of work down the drain and what was a fairly big part of
my business’s lead and sales generation gone literally overnight.
Why did this happen?
Well to be honest I’m not entirely sure. The reasons stated were a little vague but centre around the methods I used to get videos seen.
Not the actual content of my videos - many were tutorials on how to do various things, others were reviews and explanations of the SFM and DEA system, philosophy and training.
I wasn’t doing anything “dodgy” just using some strategies that had worked well for ages and with which Youtube had no
problem - until now.
What I hadn’t done is: Read through all the boring guidelines and advice provided by Youtube on exactly what they do and don’t like.
You can be sure I’ve done that now and my new channel will be a delight to them!!
Luckily as an SFM member I have lots of experts I can take advice from and I did just that this morning. So I won’t be making the same mistakes again.
You know what though - strange as it may seem - I’m in favour of this kind of policing (even if it seems a little harsh at times and that everyone gets tarred
with the same broad brush)
It represents the huge clean up that is going on all over the internet now, led by the biggest players Google, Youtube and Facebook.
I utterly hate dishonesty, bullshit, false and misleading claims.
I pride myself that I have never knowingly done that but if some of the little technical things I do are deemed not to be the way I should be doing them - I’m happy to learn the lesson, make changes and move on.
That’s just part of being an entrepreneur and part of being a professional internet marketer.
Can’t say it doesn’t hurt sometimes but hey - who you gonna call? (Well SFM of course!)
Cheers!
