When Scot's make a decision.....

Published: Tue, 01/26/16

Hope you enjoyed my video yesterday all about my Momentum Day journey.

It was great to meet several people from Scotland who have joined SFM recently - there are a lot of UK members but not that many Scottish ones - that seems to be changing.

I think it’s because as a nation we are quite cynical, or rather not keen on change or new ideas - at first.

There’s a saying that goes something like “Scots say no first then think about it”.

So when Scottish people DO buy into something you can be pretty sure they’ve looked at all the angles, checked it out and thought long and hard about it!

That’s definitely how I operate.

I actually travelled home with a nice lady from Glasgow when we discovered we were on the same flight.

We actually had such a good chat over dinner in the airport that we nearly missed the flight!

She was an ex-employee of BT - our biggest phone and broadband provider and until taking a voluntary redundancy package she’d held a fairly senior and well paid position.

Like me she hated the phoney, corporate culture and had been really inspired by watching the SFM videos explaining how you just don’t need to be part of that. Like me she’d been looking for a better way to live and work for some time.

Unlike me she actually chose to leave the corporate world and to find a way to eventually also replace her husbands income (he’s not very happy in his own job either) I was made redundant - in hindsight - the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

She saw the sense of building a business around your own values, passions and strengths. A business that is not in competition with other businesses and is not at the mercy of the traditional economy.

At Momentum day a lot was said about how important it’s going to be over the next 5 - 20 years to have relevant skills and to be able to function and thrive in the new economy

As artificial intelligence and labour saving technology continues to replace not only semi skilled work but skilled “white collar” jobs many, people are going to have to adapt and get the skills that ARE going to be of value.

My new friend and I along with thousands of others have found what we need with SFM and DEA and so can you.

You can get started - even if you need to do it part time to start with - by applying to join our merry band.

Cheers!
