I just wrote a blog post on last Thursday’s extraordinary SFM and DEA founders call
You can read it HERE
It was extraordinary for a couple of reasons.
First Jay Kubassek gave an
amazing presentation on how fast technology is growing and what that means to every one of us - whether we like it or not
Did you know for example that computers are now getting faster every hour than they did in the first 90 years since the first one was built??
Every hour !!! ……
There are some amazing images on the blog post from Jay’s presentation that will amaze you.
Second we heard live from a couple of Australian members who were just back from the recent SFM and DEA Momentum Day event
and Platinum workshops down under.
To say they were buzzing is an understatement!
Whether or not technology actually becomes more intelligent than us by 2045 as many whizz kids predict remains to be seen.
What is a hard fact
though is that over the next 10/15/20 years many, many traditional jobs will go - and not just the low and semi skilled ones either.
Many, many traditional business (like Kodak, Blockbuster and HMV - read the blog for detail) will go - they will be wiped out by disruptive business
models using technology to do things better, faster, cheaper.
We can either sit and watch this happen or we can learn what’s needed to take advantage of the unbelievable opportunities all this offers all of us.
I tell you what - if i was l17 again and looking at going
to Uni to get a traditional education I would think again after watching Jay’s presentation and the numerous documentaries on this I’ve seen lately.
If I had kids who were thinking about it - I would discourage them - but then again - I wouldn’t have to as they know what’s happening.
I would suggest that
a far better idea would be to learn from and team up with The DEA (Digital Experts Academy) Like everyone on that Founder’s call has done.
It’s far from too late to get started but I wouldn’t leave it too long (Remember - It’s getting Faster every hour …….)
Cheers!
Dave
