Read an interesting article yesterday the jist of which I wanted to pass on to my subscribers and fellow SFM/DEA members.
It
was all about the ever changing fads of young people on their choice of social media platforms and why that’s actually so good for us older people - especially those of us running internet businesses.
By older by the way I really mean 18+
My partner’s sis came to visit us at the weekend with her other
half and our nephew Nathan who is 11.
We were talking about Facebook at one point and Nathan let us know that he and his friends don’t use it anymore - it’s old hat for them. It’s all about Snapchat and Instagram now apparently..
Now I don’t know about you but I find this stuff hard to keep on top of - and I’m
an internet marketer!
But the article I mentioned explained that as the very young move away from a platform like Facebook, older people start to use it (we are just a little slower on the uptake)
Why is that good for internet business?
Well basically because our customers are older and we speak their language.
So if you are just getting started with this online stuff and feel that you just won’t be able to “stay on the pulse” - in what is a fast moving, ever changing industry - don’t panic.
Facebook and all the
other platforms that youngsters are deserting aren’t going anywhere. Better still the people still using them are older so have the buying power.
So really in terms of digital marketing things are just getting better for us post schoolers!
Plus of course if you get your training from SFM you’re always on the pulse anyway - the one that matters.
I’m jumping on the boat this afternoon and heading for the big city to do some much needed shopping - might even catch a movie
Hope you had or are having a great Wednesday too
Cheers
Dave
