Yesterday I talked about the Titanic economy.
Today I wanted to talk about another aspect of the Titanic story that is
very relevant to today’s brave new world.
When DR D Ballard discovered the wreck of the Titanic back in 1985 and then a year later actually visited the site he made history twice. He also gave us a huge example of what technology can do.
Did you know that at that time, such a journey was actually more
difficult that getting man on the moon?
Even finding the wreck where it had lain in 3800m of freezing water for 74 years was an incredible feat. But getting there was something else again.
It would not have been possible without the computing power at their disposal back then - which was almost
iron age in comparison to what we have now.
Amongst a million other tasks, computers did the incredibly difficult calculations that helped design the diving bell that took Ballard and his associates down there.
Their journey led to a ton of discoveries about the world that exists down that far in the sea.
Studies of the wreck itself have helped engineers and scientists in many different fields.
Fast forward to 2015 when all of us can do that journey via our home computers, tablets and phones just by looking it up on Youtube.
The famous Film with Kate Winslett and Leo Di Caprio repeated the journey to the Titanic Wreck - for a
movie!
We live in amazing times.
My point here is that technology can take us places we could not have dreamt of not long ago.
In 1986 home computers were rare - now they are common
place - in fact they are almost old fashioned.
The internet was really just a place for boffins to catalogue information - like a big encyclopaedia. The very thought of using it to do business never mind chat to friends on the other side of the world was ridiculous.
But entrepreneurs saw the
potential and the first internet .com boom and bust happened.
That’s where the “Get rich quick” internet myth probably began. Many did but then got poor just as fast. But the internet was here to stay.
Look at it now.
How many individuals and businesses could do without it?
That’s why it’s pure common sense to leverage it right now - Before it replaces your job.
Before it makes your business uncompetitive, undiscoverable and gone.
Now is the time to make your dreams reality instead of taking them to the grave with you.
But do in a practical, no nonsense
way.
One of the ideas people had to raise the Titanic (before they even knew where it was) was to fill it with millions of ping pong balls and float it to the surface! That’s nuts!
Trying to start a profitable online business with a hairball scheme or programme is the same
thing.
Use technology instead. Get the best training, the best systems, the best products and the best business model. Do it surrounded by like minded people.
Do it with SFM - anything else is just ping pong balls!
Cheers
