I pinched the title of email from one I received today from a Business Network I’m part of.
The email was about an upcoming seminar all about the time that is wasted in the workplace.
A couple of the headlines were:
“Time - more valuable than money?" (of course it is!!)
and “ Just because you’re at work doesn’t mean your getting work done”
It goes on to mention an annual survey by Salary.com which found that 89% of people asked admitted wasting around an hour of time on non-work related tasks out of an eight hour day. A small %age admitted to wasting about half the day.
My argument is that for many people in many jobs, 8 hours a day is a COMPLETE waste of their valuable
time!
We live in a world now where we just don’t have to do that anymore - we have options. We don’t need to sell our time for money in order to finance someone else’s lifestyle.
Especially since other surveys are strongly suggesting that up to 50% of these jobs will
be gone in 20 years anyway.
It’s great that Big business networks are asking the question - “Is Your Time more valuable than money”
But it’s better that organisations like SFM are providing valid alternatives.
