I arranged to have a chat with a fairly new SFM member on Skype the other day. We'll be chewing the fat on Thursday and I'm looking forward to
it.
I decided to do this as this guy - Scott - spoke about his own reasons for joining SFM on this month's founders call with Jay Kubassek. He was asked to speak because, like me he has made it to the leader board this month for introducing most new members to the community.
Since arranging our chat I've seen a video he put together where he has a chat with a couple of new members in London earlier this week.
One of the points they made is well worth sharing:
*
It's mega important to surround yourself with like minded people - especially when you start out on a new journey - like learning how to build a lifestyle business.
You see, sadly (and I've experienced this myself) you find that a lot of the people you hang out with simply don't understand why and what you're doing.
If you're not careful this can sew seeds of doubt in your mind and really hold you back.
This is why the SFM was deliberately designed as a community style learning and business platform - To give members access to each other and encourage interaction between them.
If Stuart Ross had listened to the "noise" from his old colleagues he'd have stayed with the "safe" option and would still be an overworked, stressed and unhealthy estate agent.
He didn't and now he's a multi millionaire digital
entrepreneur, world, renowned mentor, business coach and owner of several 7 and 8 figure online businesses.
If I had listened to the (albeit well intentioned) "noise" from my old friends, colleagues and family I wouldn't be sitting in front of an amazing sea view, writing this on a Tuesday afternoon having just bought a house here.
If Scott - who has a PHD, had listened to the noise he would be stuck in the hateful, badly paid job his faith in the old education led him to (massive student debts not withstanding)
He now markets SFM to people who are considering
committing themselves to years of expensive, largely useless traditional education. He's talking from experience.
If you do decide to take your life into your own hands and out of someone else's you will come up against naysayers who will want to pull you down.
They think they have your best interests at heart. They are scared and often jealous of your decision to swim against the tide of popular opinion.
Now this doesn't mean you need to dump all your old friends and colleagues or distance yourself from family.
But it might mean you need to develop some new peers - people who are on the same wavelength with the same thirst for positive change.
THAT is where the SFM community becomes invaluable. You have instant access to hundreds, if not thousands of them.
There are numerous SFM member forums, groups, local meetups, events and hangouts you can get involved with. There are regular live events in several countries and you can always do like Scott did - get in touch and meet in person.
It's a well established fact that your outlook, opinions, circumstances and income are directly influenced the 10
people you associate with most.
That is something you can take control of….
