As you might be aware there is a vast digital skills shortage in the world at large. That's really where SFM fits in - to teach those essential skills
and how to leverage them to create a digital lifestyle.
I read an interesting article yesterday about the UK's reaction to this. Here are some quotes from the Baroness Morgan the chair person of the Digital Skills Committee.
According to Morgan, the future of the
UK's economy, workforce and people is at a make-or-break point.
In her report Make or break: The UK's digital future she
suggested the next government urgently needs to resolve the skills gap, with the Digital Skills Committee estimating 35% of UK jobs will be at risk of being automated over the next 20 years.
She says:
"Our overwhelming
recommendation is that the incoming government creates a digital agenda, with the goal of securing the UK’s place as a leading digital economy within the next five years".
And
"Digital skills can no longer be dealt
with by individual departments – this must all join up. We urge the new government to create a cabinet minister post to steer this digital agenda through.”
And
"We have a choice as a country about whether we seize
this opportunity or whether we fall behind. This report declares that the UK must aim to be a global digital leader, and only clear leadership from the government will get us there,"
DON'T THINK SO!!
The SFM and digital skills platforms like Grovo who SFM recently partnered with are miles ahead of this than any government - entrepreneurs usually are!
The situation is
the same all over the world. Traditional education has been slow to react and has failed to teach digital skills in a practical way - a way that empowers people to actually use those skills to create new businesses in the digital economy.
It's a huge industry and a very young one. Going on the above statements and many more from similarly well respected sources, digital skills
are now essential.
"The report makes it clear that our approach to educating people of all ages needs a radical re-think. From an early age we need to give digital literacy as much importance as numeracy and literacy".
Now is the time to get into this industry and to spread this essential knowledge.
The price you pay to acquire these skills now will be a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of not having them very soon…
Cheers
