Well that was a tough few days - so well worth it though.
I'm writing this at my new desk - looking out to sea and watching the sailing boats and bigger ships passing by.
Getting here was a massive task - at times one that I wasn't sure we'd manage.
My self and my partner along with a brother each did the move ourselves. When we picked up the hired van It just didn't look big enough for all our stuff but we crammed it all in there.
It then went on a 40 minute drive followed by a 20 minute ferry journey. That's when the hard work started.
Our new place is set on the hills above the Firth of Clyde so we had a choice - either unload above the house and carry everything down hill - or park below and carry it up.
Oddly enough the uphill option was the best for various reasons. It took a long time and all of us have been aching all over
ever since but "By George we did it!"
Moral of this story? - You can have anything you want if you're prepared to put the work in.
I have to also say - we couldn't do this if we didn't have the means to generate income form anywhere. Once again I have to thank SFM
(and the internet) for making that possible. |
