I had to laugh earlier today.
We were in the bank to set up a joint account.
As we sat with the young lady who was processing everything she asked us both what we do - It was the middle of a weekday after all and we were both in casual clothes.
I said I do internet affiliate marketing and my partner told her she was a driving instructor.
The bank girl completely blanked me but said to my partner - "Wow a driving instructor! - that must be amazing!"
If only she knew ….
I was telling my Gold coaches Greg and Fiona this yesterday and
we agreed that it's probably because she just didn't understand what I do - to the point where it didn't even register ….

It's quite a common reaction in fact. When I was at a friends funeral recently I met with a lot of old friends who I hadn't seen for many years. When I told them what I do now they didn't even ask for more details.
Without meaning to be nasty I think this is a result of ignorance and false assumption.
Ignorance because most people, even today, just don't know how the internet can create income for them. They are set in their ways and think that money can only be earned in the traditional way - by exchanging lots of time for a little
money.
False Assumption - They assume that working on the internet must need geeky tech skills or that it's all just a big scam - how could you possibly earn a living by working less and not commuting to a job?
Or they just assume that it would be too
difficult to learn, especially if they are past their first flush of youth.
The funny thing is most people probably don't even know anyone who is working online - it's just outside their frame of reference. Yet they stick with these assumptions which are based on nothing - Zero - Nada
Since I AM in the industry I know hundreds of people who are living amazing lives now because of the internet. They decided to find out for themselves because they realised that they wanted big changes and that they weren't going to get them by doing what they'd always done.
None of
them are geeky tech types and none of them are gullible dreamers
I fully endorse the SFM philosophy - that people need a different kind of education now. One that dismisses these dated assumptions and shows people what actually is possible on the internet if they just learn how.
More and more people are doing this every day. SFM's membership is swelling so fast it's hard to keep up with. I bet you that in less than 10 years almost everyone WILL know someone who is running an online business.
Will you be one of
them?
Cheers
