I got a nice email today from a young guy in Germany.
Nice because he started by saying that he wanted to ask my advice since I seem like one of the 1% on the internet who wants to help people rather just being interested in taking their
money.
I would argue that 1% is a little harsh - given that I know possibly hundreds of really genuine internet marketers who, like me who ARE making a living by helping others do the same.
It just happens that SFM have been the vehicle for
us to do that.
It can seem that the online world is chock full of scams and get rich quick crap (as my young friend put it) so I can understand his feelings.
He told me in his email that he was desperate to start working hard for his dream and had been researching for months. He had eventually come
across SFM and me.
He wanted to know if it was possible for someone of his age (16) to get started.
He also wanted to know if the 5 or 6 hours a week he could afford to spend on learning and building an online business would be enough, and how quickly he would be able
to cover his membership fees.
Unfortunately for SFM you need to be 18 or over but I tried my best to offer some advice.
The honest answer is that no one can predict how long anything will take. All you can do is provide everything they need - the tools, the training
and the mindset - that's what SFM do.
And is 5-6 hours a week enough? Maybe - it's possible but its unlikely. Would 5-6 hours a week be enough to build ANY business? - probably not.
It really is only the scammers and get rich quick merchants that tell people
otherwise.
An online business certainly takes far less time than a traditional one - that's why we do it. But there is a learning curve (as with anything)
It's a sign of our times that people of this age are realising what the internet offers. I find it it
really inspiring.
I hope he will keep up the enthusiasm for another couple of years - if so i'll definitely be there to help him.
