Hi
So.....
This weekend I decided to make wooden frames for the acoustic foam panels I’d already made for my little studio.
I’d looked at a couple of Youtube videos so was pretty sure I could do this myself ….
I ordered the wood from the local timber place, a saw and mitre block for cutting 45 degree angles in wood and some “no more nails” wood glue.
I measured the pads and cut the wood accordingly - easy peasy I thought. (Mistake A)
They were too small. I’d forgotten to account for the width of the wooden strips.
Ok I thought, so I’ll have to unglue the covering material and recut the foam panels.
I pressed on with the build.
And found that No More Nails - at least on this wood - doesn’t work very well. But neither I found, does superglue
But in the end I bodged them together with nails, brackets, screws and a ton of glue.
They’ll do the job and once I cover them again will look OK.
But if I’d known an expert joiner (or employed one!) They’d have helped me do this way, way better.
Yes they’d have better tools so the cuts and joins would have been better.
But more than that, their experience would have led them to choose a different wood, how to measure it accurately for the purpose, what glue would be best and probably a dozen more things I haven’t even thought of yet!
They’d have done it better, quicker and probably cheaper.
But bizarrely my approach here is exactly the way most people approach starting an online business.
After minimal research they bang up a quick, free website or pay a fortune for one if they have the money
Then they fill with it with crappy images and content and go to Fiverr for short cuts and hacks they believe will get them fast traffic and results
Worse still they get stuck into paid advertising on Youtube, Facebook or Instagram. Or they buy solo ads on other people’s lists.
And lose a fortune. Then they give up.
On the other hand a more sensible approach would be to invest up front in some training, mentorship, support and purpose built tools based on over a decade of results. As would doing it as part of a huge community of like minded people.
Which is what you get as a member of Launch You and Mentors.

I’m glad I did that when I got started rather than doing it the way I made those panels!
Bests
